[net.music] Looking for pre-King Crimson album

sra@hocda.UUCP (S.ABBOT) (04/13/84)

I recently bought an album called "A Young Listeners Guide to King Crimson"
(a reissue of a sort-of-greatest-hits-and-rarities album that came out in
the UK in '76) (more good stuff from Editions E.G.). One particularly
interesting song on it was one by Giles, Giles and Fripp called "I Talk to
the Wind", recorded in 1968. Giles, Giles and Fripp eventually evolved into
KC (Giles and Giles were in a few versions of KC), unfortunately the album
never sold. According to the book that came with the album, it probably
sold no more than 1000 copies worldwide (it sold 40 in Canada in 1968).
The album was released in the US by Deram Records, but is naturally out of
print. Does anyone on the net know of a reissue of this album on any other
labels (domestic or import)?

The Giles, Giles, and Fripp album is available as a Japanese import in
a number of Toronto record stores. The number of "EG" family records
put out by the Japanese is actually very large (this includes Eno, Roxy
Music, King Crimson (E and G are the initials of KC's managers, who
went on to form a record label) and offshoots). p. rowley, U. Toronto

the album you are referring to is called "The Cheerful Insanity of
Giles, Giles, and Fripp". It is put out on Deram records, and it
is being reissued by Deram (I believe). I saw it an a record store
in the Washington DC area. I have a copy of it and it is teriffic.
Really hilarious stuff. If you go to a pretty good store, they should
have it, and if not, they might be able to order it .

A friend of mine in college had the album:

"The cheerful insanity of Giles, Giles, and Fripp"

The album has some very funny songs that seem to all run together.
Robert Fripp's acoustical/classical guitar work is exceptional (clean
chops, not alot of fuzz)!

I have been looking for this album for more than 7 years, no luck yet.
