David, I had the same problems and traced it to one of two problems: 1. The 68000 and IN1000 were not seated properly even though everything LOOKED alright. When I pulled one or the other (I forget which) back out, I had bent one of the pins. Reinstalling it helped, but not totally. 2. The daughter board connectors are hooked to the WRONG pins. I thought I had followed directions to the T, but I got the wrong pins, in fact, the wrong two chips. I had to do a little trial and error to find the right ones, but I was working off IN500 instructions which didn't help. Anyway, I simply tried the same relative pins on chips next to the ones I thought were the right ones and I finally got it right. I don't necessarily advocate just testing pins, since your mileage may vary drastically. I also did not have to ground the PALS and mine was a very early A1000 (Dec 85). So, I'd double check the seating with a magnifier and flashlight while reseating the 68000 and the board. Then I'd double check the daughterboard connections. My system has been across country in my trunk twice and I never soldered anything, so I vote for doing the minimum and seeing how it works. You don't have to put the cover back on til everything is set right, so checking the daughter connections isn't hard. I hope this helps. Cheers, Dave
