[comp.sys.amiga] Amiga SPOTTED

dbwhite@pro-realm.cts.com (David White) (09/10/90)

Spotted an Amiga 500 offered as one of the prizes on "You Do It TV"

(WPIX, 7PM weekdays). A SuperGen genlock was also listed as one of

the prizes, but there was no mention of using it *WITH* the Amiga.

The show is a competition for home made videos spoofing movies, tv,

etc. so hopefully the winner will know that an Amiga and genlock can

make for some fancy video effects. Don't know if anybody else will

have the faintest clue though. I was kind of hoping they would have

run a video clip to show it off....

I have also recently spotted an amiga at the Jaggar (sp?) Museum up
at the seismological observatory on top of Kilauea. They only had the
monitor out for the public, so I couldn't tell what kind of machine it
was running on or what software they were using. They were using it to
display recent earthquake epicenters and magnitudes.

The best place I've seen an Amiga-in-action (tm) was in Barcelona, Spain.
They had a tent on one of the main streets with an exhibition regarding
preparations for the 1992 Summer Olympics there. They had four of five
Amigas on hand running great multimedia, interactive demonstrations using
digitized aeriel photographs of Barcelona retouched to show what Barcelona
will look like after construction of the olymmpic facilities. IMHO, a
terrific use for the Amiga.

Ok, so I go to my local video arcade, and there is this GREAT
GAME there. It costs $1 but looks like it's worth it.

The game is "Mad Dog McCree" if I remember right. It is a
LARGE game with a 25" screen, and a stand with a holster and stereo
speakers.

The gun has a light sensor , and the game is VERY slick , with
real life action on screen.

Well, I put $1 in and it whirred, then......

		GURU MEDITATION ERROR ####################

I burst out laughing and it waited a second then re-booted and
went on (even gave me my $1 credit) .. the must have a auto-rebooter
in there.

	Much fun.
