I have problems with my Digi-View 1.0 (using it through a gender-changer)
it says that there is no video-signal present, anybody who knows if it
is an error i V1.0 (so I have to buy Digi-View GOLD or...?).
Please HEEEEEELP me, it is VERY important

I have never seen Digi-View 1.0, but from what I've heard the only
revolutionary hardware change made to DigiView was that the gender was
changed to fit A500/A2000's insted of A1000's with DigiView Gold. So,
assuming that You have a video-signal present (my cable sometimes gives
me problems with that), You could check what a software upgrade will
cost. I upgraded from 3.0 to 4.0 to get rid of that nasty Digi-Droid
68020 incompatibility bug. My dealer got me that for free, since I could
show the several fax'es I've sent to Newtek without any answers.
It could ofcourse be something completely different, though. I'm just
suggesting.

When connecting the original DigiView hardware (which was designed for an A1000) to a newer Amiga, using a simple gender-changer will NOT work. That's because the DigiView module is powered by +5 volts from the parallel port, and the new Amigas (A500, A2000, A3000) use a different pin for this purpose. The 25-pin male-to-male adapter from NewTek has some sort of DC-to-DC converter/voltage-regulator, but I have had success with the following: Get two male DB-25 connectors. Wire pin 1 on one connector to pin 1 on the other connector. Do the same for pins 2-13 (the entire top row) and 17-22 (all but 3 pins at each end of the bottom row.) Wire pin 14 to pin 23, 15 to 24, 16 to 25, 23 to 14, 24 to 15, 25 to 16. The resultant adapter is symmetrical; it can be plugged in either way.
