[comp.sys.amiga] help with uucp

jason@pnet12.rfengr.com (Jason Goldberg) (12/21/90)

I am still having trouble getting my UUCP1.06d to work. I have discovered
the debug mode, in uucico and am posting the results of a typical session,
in the hopes that some kind and wise soul will show me the error of my
ways.

The following is an edited version of the output from the command:
		uucico -Sserene -x9
Commets are imbeded into the output and are preceeded by "****"

Well that is about it. As usual any input is greatly apprecieated...

I had a similar problem. It turns out that my newsfeed did not have their
permissions file set properly.

I tried mailing you after your first message, but just found out that
our mailer has been down the whole time and all my messages bounced.
Your second posting makes it more definite.

You're calling site "sereneslow" but connecting with site "serene".
On "real" uucp, this would cause the calling site to immediately drop
the connection on the assumption is to the wrong site. Evidently
Amiga uucp does the same thing, though it's not too obvious about it.

Try renaming the system entry so you're calling "serene" and not "sereneslow."
In general, you the name used in the system entry has to match the name
the system will identify itself with (the "Shere=" line). If you must use
something other than the actual system name the other end will have to do
some magic with its Permissions file.
