[net.music] My Favorite Canadian Punk Guitarists

barry@vaxwalle.UUCP (04/17/84)

Well, I thought I'd add my two sense worth to a couple of
	the subjects recently discussed.

Here's one more Canadian band. Does anybody remember a band
from the mid-70's called Klaatu? There was a rumor at the
time that they were actually the reformed Beatles using an
alias. I'm pretty sure they were Canadian. Does anyone know
if they're still around? They put out three albums that I
know of. I bought two. I thought they were pretty good.
After all, in my opinion, anybody who is accused of sounding
like the Beatles can't be all bad.

Concerning the best guitarist discussion, I think that Chet
Atkins should definitely be included. I saw him on a TV show
several years ago. (I think it was a show on PBS called Sound
Stage) He played the marching band song "Stars and Stripes
Forever" on an acoustic guitar. He played the melody line,
the bass line, the rhythm accompaniment, and some percussion
all at the same time. It was amazing.
As far as Favorite guitarists, though, my own favorites are
	Steve Howe and Jan Akkerman.

One last thing.....Has anybody seen the new Yes videos of
"Leave It"? I know that are at least 18 different (slightly)
versions of the video. (One of the VJs on MTV said there were
over 50 versions!) I've seen three of them. Several are weird
but interesting. Number 11, which seems to be the most popular
one on MTV is great! (My Opinion, mind you) The video graphics
are fantastic. To me, THIS is what music videos should be.
