I would guess that the problem you are experiencing is a timing problem since I have noticed the same occasional 'handshaking' problem on my 2088. This is especially noticeable when you try to install the Atime, Amouse programs in the autoexec. I have not spent a lot of time trying to track the problem down, but can recommend you either 1) start the Amouse.com program manually, or 2) place a wait in your startup-sequence that pauses until the bridgecard is past it's POST (memory check) and shows the handler message. I execute a separate startup-pc script that waits about 45 seconds before starting the Amouse and Timeserv processes. You may have to reboot a few times and time the PC side to get the wait accurate. I've been toying with a couple of ideas for synchronizing the two machines a little better, but a little experimentation with WAIT will probably solve your problem. I have an Amiga 2000 HD with an AT Bridgecard (A2286). I frequently get the message "Janus setup failure - Amouse process" when I first boot up. When this error occurs, the bridgecard cannot be used, and I have to re-boot. My dealer suggested adding a "wait" command in the system-startup file, thinking that the Amouse process might not be completely initialized before something else tried to access it. This did not fix the problem, so the entire bridgecard was replaced. The new bridgecard has the same problem. There have been a couple of other problems with the bridgecard that have occurred less frequently. I have had two instances where the PC screen did not appear. Instead, I got a black-and-white checkerboard pattern. A couple of times, I've also gotten memory configuration error messages. I would appreciate hearing from others who have had similar problems with the A2286. Is there another fix, or should I replace the bridgecard again?
