[comp.sys.amiga] Connecting SCSI to A590 plus

tscarpenter@brb.isnet.inmos.co.uk (01/03/91)

    Hi

Does anyone know the wiring spec to connect a SCSI drive to a A590 plus
The SCSI drive has a fifty way IDC on the back of it, and I would prefer
to connect it to the external 25 way connector on the 590 but if neccessary
i will use the 50 way internal SCSI connector.

    Thanks in advance.

    Darren Carpenter.

For internal 50 pin IDC to the 50 pin IDC on the drive, it's straight through.
If you are into masochism, don't bother with a ribbon cable. If you're not,
just use a ribbon cable and two IDC connectors.

The DB-25 to 50 pin IDC is a little trickier, but not too bad. First, find
yourself a shor length of 50 conductor ribbon cable, a 50 pin IDC connector,
and a 50 pin female 'Centronics-style' connector (both connectors for insulation
displacement connection to the ribbon cable). Then go to the nearest Mac store
and buy yourself a Mac 'system cable', which is a DB-25 to 50 pin male
'Centronics-style' cable, and there ya go.
