On a lot of unix systems, messages that have no group on that system
end up in a newsgroup called "junk". Try looking through that newsgroup
and see if the articles are showing up there.

If so, point out to news administrator that the files are still there
on your system, whether he wants to set up the newsgroup or not, so he
might as well set it up, it's not going to cost anything but 5 minutes
of his time.

Once again, it looks like it is time to remind everyone about

  C O M P . S Y S . A M I G A . H A R D W A R E

Please remember that this group exists and use it where appropriate.
Appropriate includes discussions about connection of modems and
printers (useless to those whose hardware already works), possibly
discussions about benchmarks (which are useless for people who do not
plan to buy new hardware).

If your topic would not be of interest to those whose hardware is
stable and who do not plan to purchase new hardware, please use
c.s.a.hardware if possible. If you don't get an answer, THEN you might
post to c.s.a. Cross-posting to both groups is worse than annoying, as
everyone then has to read it twice.

Thank you for your support. -- Darren

I'm trying to sell my A1000 and have often wondered if it would be possible
via USENET. If you have bought or sold a computer via USENET please EMAIL
me with your experiences! My gut tells me that it's hard to trust someone
long distance with my equipment; maybe there's a method for exchanging
equipment for $$ that I'm unaware of.

Please email positive and negative experiences! I can post a summary if
there is sufficent interest. Tnx!

The method is quite straightforward: ship UPS COD; this requires the recipient
to pay with cash, certified check, or postal money order (as good as a
certified check) ... UPS won't accept a personal check if you so specify ...
this way EVERYONE is protected (as least as far as the money part goes).

Thousands of computers and parts get sold/traded/whatever over the Usenet, in
groups such as comp.sys.amiga (I bought some RAM from one person) and also in
the newsgroup misc.forsale.computers. You should look at some of the stuff in
misc.forsale.computers to get some ideas.

If you get "stuck" with mis-represented junk, your recourse is small claims
court. But it seems that most people are honest.
