[net.general] Junk Mail Unlisting

wetcw@pyuxa.UUCP (T C Wheeler) (03/02/84)

As a note of general interest, there is an address to contact to have
your name removed from mailing lists. Contact:

		Direct Mail Marketing Association
		6 E. 43rd St.
		New York, N. Y. 10017
		Attention: Mail Preference Service

I suppose you could also get your address put on certain lists if you
wanted.

This is sort of in answer to several queries I have seen on the net.

Yes, you *can* request that your name be added to mailing lists. Write to
DMMA's Mail Preference Service; they will send you a checklist of several areas
of interest. Check off those that appeal to you, return it, and buy a larger
mailbox.

DMMA reports, by the way, that more people request to be added to mailing
lists than removed from them!
