I have been with the software since V1.10 and have experienced numerous crashes many of which left my HD with validation errors forcing me to re-format (Luckily, I recently picked up a copy of Quarterback Tools which fixes this and many other HD problems. NO HD owner should be without it!) I currently have version 2.08. An update that took the author almost a year to release. Since that time the support BBS has closed and a second one was opened which has since closed and now the secondary author has taken over the project. (The authors are Jon Radoff and Eric Drewry) It would seem Jon and Eric had some sort of falling out and now Eric is supporting the project. I have seen beta-versions of V2.09, but there are still severl major bugs that have yet to be quashed that have been known for over 7 versions. I ran the system for awhile without using FidoNet and it worked just fine, but when you get into FidoNet, it will quite often crash. Some folks don't have any problems and others have even more than I did. It's a shame too as it is a very nice peice of software that just suffers from too many bugs. Hopefully Eric will be able to bring things around in the future and it will again be worth the money. I have seen Dialog in action and would hazzard to say it is the best Fido Compat system out save for it's high price tag. The BETA version is $150 and the RELEASE version is supposed to cost $200. It is, however, one of the most solid systems I have seen and supports USENET as WELL as FIDONET. Any program that you can run from the CLI and that outputs to the CLI can be used as a DOORs program (which means no special development envrions are needed) and it has other very nice features. The high price is hard to swallow though especially after paying $116 for Paragon. If you want the best out, though, Dialog is it in my opinion. -Moriland -- | hastoerm@vela.acs.oakland.edu | __ | | | __/// Viva Amiga! | | Founder Of: Evil Young | \XX/ | | Mutants For A Better Tomorrow | "Single Tasking: JUST SAY NO!" |

There is another Fido compatible BBS. It is called TransAmiga. I don't know the author's name, but try contacting him at "Chris's Amiga" BBS, which is a TransAmiga fidonet node in Manchester, NY. 716-289-3329 or 716-289-3351. One number is a voice phone (ask for Chris), the other is his Amiga BBS. He is friends with the author of TransAmiga. :) DavidTiberio SUNYStonyBrook2-3605 AMIGA TotoProductions DDDMEN
