Comp.sys.amiga and comp.sys.amiga.tech are going away. Soon. I will issue the group removal messages on February 5th. No later. Please stop posting to these two groups immediately. If there is some discussion going on, move it to one of the many Amiga groups that now exists and will not be removed. Detailed descriptions of the new groups are posted regularly in comp.sys.amiga.introduction. Please see the posts there to pick a group to use instead of one of the groups that is dying. Many people are complaining that they can not post to the new groups or that their site is not receiving them yet. If this is happening to you, the problem is with your local site, and not with the net as a whole. It has to be fixed where you get your news. If you have this problem, take these steps to fix it: 1. Find the system administrator of your machine. Tell him (or her) about the problem. Show him (or her) the list of groups at the end of this message. Ask him (assume the "or her" for the rest of this message) to fix the problem. If he says that he is not in charge of Usenet at your site, ask him who is in charge, then talk to that person. 2. If your problem rests with another site, send e-mail to the News administrator at that site. The problem can be at another site if you get Usenet through e-mail or if your site gets a feed from another site with a problem. First send a message to usenet@site. For instance, if you are having trouble posting by sending mail to Berkeley, you should send mail to usenet@ucbvax.berkeley.edu. The usenet@site address will usually get you the proper administrator. If you get no response, send a message to postmaster@site, and ask for the address of the Usenet administrator at that site. Send the list at the end of this message to the administrator, and make sure to inform him that comp.sys.amiga.tech and comp.sys.amiga itself are going away very soon. The new groups are: comp.sys.amiga.misc comp.sys.amiga.programmer comp.sys.amiga.announce (moderated) comp.sys.amiga.reviews (moderated) comp.sys.amiga.introduction comp.sys.amiga.audio comp.sys.amiga.graphics comp.sys.amiga.marketplace comp.sys.amiga.multimedia comp.sys.amiga.applications comp.sys.amiga.emulations comp.sys.amiga.advocacy comp.sys.amiga.datacomm comp.unix.amiga Groups remaining from before are: comp.sys.amiga.games comp.sys.amiga.hardware comp.sources.amiga (moderated) comp.binaries.amiga (moderated) alt.sources.amiga Dan Zerkle zerkle@iris.eecs.ucdavis.edu (916) 754-0240 Amiga...
