[comp.sys.amiga] AMAX and MacIIfx...

Hello there! Just today, something very interesting struck me about the
Amiga and the MacIIfx. Note, this is meant to be a comparison, not a
flame...

Before I start, let me say that my Amiga is equipped with an A2058
RAM board with SLOW 100ns 16-bit RAM and a 25 Mhz GVP 68030 bare-board
(ie, not a single byte of fast 32-bit RAM. I also do not have the 68882).
However, I replaced the clock crystal with a 40Mhz one. (It works, Yes!!!)
I guess you must know what the MacIIfx has, 40Mhz 68030, etc, Fast
32-bit RAM (static???), etc.

Well, check this out, the scrolling speed using the CDS (an assembly
language develop. package) editor on the MacIIfx was significantly slower
than when I scrolled the same file on AMAX on my Amiga!!! Imagine...

Also, I tried the game Starwars (Mac Version) on the MacIIfx and
later on AMAX on my Amiga and lo and behold, the AMAX ran it faster!!! (By
the way, the Amiga version WITH COLOR is faster than both of them...)
-----Kids, try this at home....

Well, anyways, thought this was quite a shock. I thought the
MacIIfx had a nifty graphics system and a lot of speed.
Unfortunately, I'm not all that convinced that this is true...

When testing a Mac vs. Amax, be sure to turn off the color on the Mac.

This greatly speeds up games (even if the games are not in color on the FX)

At least, this has been my experience.
