[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Bad spots on hard disk

matt@inuxg.UUCP (Matt Verner) (12/06/86)

I have an AT compatible with a 30-Meg hard disk. Recently it has lost a file,
by that I mean that when I try to access that one file it gives me an
error message:

	Data error reading drive C
	Abort, Retry, Ignore?

Yes I have Retried many times with no success. The real question boils down to
this: How can I located the bad sector, cylinder, head of the offending spot?
Once I have this info I can map the thing out with idisk.com. Is there some
non destructive read test on the IBM advanced diagnostics that I can use?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
