For all you knowledgable folks out there who have used kermit, is there a way to program one of the function keys to contain the escape character. i.e. I want to be able to hit f1 and get the effect of "ctrl ] push" I have tried everything I could possibly think of and was not successful. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please reply to: Reza Zarafshar, (312)979-5104 ihnp4!ihreza!reza0

I suspect that it is be- cause Kermit is reading the scan codes directly and converting them to ASCII or whatever. if this is the case, then the only way to break is to physically type ^]. Any other key combination(s) will be sent directly to the serial port using whatever other mapping you have programmed in. That's one reason why you have to press ^] twice to send it to the host. The first key press is grabbed by Kermit as the escape character and doesn't get transmitted.
