My girlfriend, a financial analyst type, wants to buy a clone for dbase III, lotus, wordstar, and other managerial type stuff none of us hackers ever do. What she would like is some feedback on what's good, what's not, and what's best. Some requirements: 1) 286 running 8 MHZ or faster 2) 20 Mb hard disk, more would be nice 3) 'I want one that will look nice on my desk'. Her words, not mine. 4) socket for an 80287. 5) Color would be nice. 6) Naturally, it has to run the above programs as a bare minumum. The more compatable it is, the better. 7) around $2,000 or so. As she'll stick it to the company I think she can go higher. For all she wants I think she'll have to go higher. 8) It MUST be reliable, and has to be repaired ASAP when it does break. If the MTTR is more than a couple of days forget it. Please respond via email, with rn insisting half my groups are bogus, the other half are empty, and it's revising my soft pointers be patient (read: unsubscribing to my favorite groups) I can never be sure what's happening with news anymore.
