[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Egas43.scr

Ega43.com works fine on my little Taiwanese AT compat; less filling
(about 50 bytes) and it works great. At least in DOS mode. That is probab-
ly where the confusion arises. Individual pieces of software, such as word-
processors or editors, have to have been written so as to be settable for
26+ line screens, and most probably aren't. WordPerfect, for instance, can
be set quite nicely for 43 lines with one of the Alt-F8 menu items. The
text editor I normally use can't, and what you see really is just half sized
print scrolling at mid-page.

I don't know about your taiwanese clone, but my American clone
just generates a reduced screen in the upper left corner - when at the
dos level. Now about WordPerfect: are you suggesting running ega43 and
then entering WordPerf and setting the screen to 43 lines? If I just
enter WordPerfect (without ega43) and set the screen length to 43 - I get
nothing! The screen is blank but the keyboard still properly responds...

Maybe ega43 is written for a particular EGA board clone. Mine is
a Paradise AutoSwitch (with Auto turned off)...
