[comp.sys.ibm.pc] ega43.src

Hi,

Several people have complained that ega43.com doesn't really switch
to 43 lines. It does. The problem is that ansi.sys won't let the
cursor go below the 24th line of the screen.

To get things to work, you need to take device=ansi.sys out of your
config.sys file and then reboot.

I am told that nansi.sys and fansi console will handle 43 line ega
formats, so you can get one of those and replace your antiquated
ansi.sys.

In truth, the 43 line ega format is not terribly useful in general
use with DOS since so many programs stupidly assume that there are
only 24 lines on your screen.

There is a separate patch for Wordstar that will let it edit in 43
line format. I've found that this is pretty useful. I got the ws
patch a while back from mod.ibm-pc. If anybody is interested, send
me an email or give me a ring. By the way this is for Wordstar
version 3.x.
