I am probably one of the three people in the world that own a DG/1 laptop. Not exactly a hot seller. My question is this : are there any other unfortunates out there who have a DG/1 who have sucessfully managed to get PROCOMM working? Mine gets to the point where it should be building its files for the first time, and then hangs trying to build the "prm"file. The file is created, but it's size is 0. System particulars: 512 K memory 2 DSDD drives (720k each) Internal 300 baud modem External 1200 baud Hayes-compatible modem MSDOS 2.11 ROM-driven terminal emulation program Usual COM1 COM2 RS232 ports My hunch is that the setups for the internal modem/terminal-emulation program are causing PROCOMM to get confused while attempting to read the system parameters. Any ideas? ihnp4!convex!tmorris Terry Morris Disclaimer: I didn't design it! I didn't market it! I don't even work there anymore!

The standard DG/1 used an 8251 for the serial port instead of an 8250, like the PC. The chips aren't compatible in any way. ProComm may be hanging while trying to read port status.

The DG/One uses cmos 8251 communications chips driven by an 8253 counter instead of the 8250 chips used in PC compatibles. Communications programs not written to drive this hardware configuration will not operate properly, usually locking up the machine. A very few comm programs are avaialable with versions for the DG/One. Some customers claim Pro-YAM is the only one that works properly on the DG/One.
