[munch, munch] I was given the following gem recently, apparently from a bulletin board. It obviously will not protect against the more subtle time bombs that seem to show up occasionally (i.e., those that wait for some time before doing us in), but it appears to be totally effective against the trojans that will immediately erase/reformat the hard disk. What it does is to totally block access to the hard disk. When run, there is no hard disk on the computer, so far as it is concerned. I thought I'd share it with you. -----------------------------CUT HERE------------------------------- #! /bin/sh # This is a shell archive, meaning: # 1. Remove everything above the #! /bin/sh line. # 2. Save the resulting text in a file # 3. When you run HARDOFF.COM, your Xhard disk is temporarily turned off (inacessible). Also hardoff.com creates Xanother program called hardon.com. Running this turns your hard drive back Xon.
