In last week's Digest, a program was announced that could be used to accurately determine the correct BUFFERS=nn value for a given system's CONFIG.SYS file. This program, called THRASHER, was posted on SIMTEL20. This program appears to compute unrealistically low values. I have, therefore, two questions for the net: 1. Has anyone else used THRASHER? Have the results seemed to be reasonable? In any case, what kind of numbers have you been getting in what kind of hardware/software environment? 2. If the current THRASHER is giving unrealistic values, would anyone have the time and expertise to research this interesting area and perhaps provide the rest of us on the net with a more rigorous tool?
