[comp.sys.ibm.pc] AT disk cache info?

del@pilchuck.UUCP (02/24/87)

[Eat me]

I am looking for pointers on where I can get a *proper* implementation
of a disk cache that uses standard (non-EMS) AT extended memory. I know
about Golden Bow, and if there is no alternative I suppose I will have to
settle for it, but reluctantly.

*Proper* is defined as 1) does not cache floppy disks 2) does not cache
the RAM disk (VDISK). Golden Bow passes the former but not the latter. It
is stupid to cache VDISK, you are then keeping 2 or 3 copies of the sector
in RAM, the VDISK, the disk cache, and possibly the DOS buffers.

My Ideal would be a device driver which accepts installation line
arguments defining the size of the cache and which devices should be cached.
