This week there is an ad in the NY Times Science section (where all of the computer stores advertise) for what looks to me like the best price yet for a complete XT clone system. It includes: Fountain XT compatible 256 k ram single 360 k drive 20 meg hard disc monochrome monitor price $849 My concern is that this is too good to be true, since comparible systems seem to go for $1200-1500. If you have any knowledge of the Fountain equipment please e-mail to me. Is there anything in particular I should be concerned about in a system of this type? Rick ihnp4!mhuxu!res1

I have heard several bad reports about Fountain clones, including the support engineer from my local store [while fixing my broken true IBM AT :(] Apparently they are not at all reliable, mainly due to poor construction. Maybe thats why its so cheap . . . Robert L. Fair Bellcore. This are, of course, my own opinions, and may or may not represent actual reality, and certainly don't represent anyone else's opinions.
