[comp.sys.ibm.pc] PC-clone Desktop Publishing. Suggestions Please.

andrew@stl.UUCP (03/16/87)

I shall shortly be taking over the editing of a small quarterly
journal. It has previously been put together with pagemaker on a mac,
but that private machine is no longer available.

For hardware the PC-clones are readily available to many potential
contributers, so what I would like is a suggestion for an appropriate
package for putting together a 40-page journal, starting from plain
acsii un-marked-up text files.

Ideally I want to work in a two-column format, and need to be able to
set space to paste in photographs, and drawings (hand, rather than machine
generated).

This is NOT a request for PD or Shareware software, (although that
would be nice), and at the other limit, I don't think the club is
prepared to exceed #1,000 for software, I will happily accept
flyers from any commercial distributor of appropriate software. To
this end, if you want to use the Royal Mails, please respond to the
address below.
