[comp.sys.ibm.pc] BASIC's SHELL command

   Can someone tell me what the BASIC's
command "SHELL" does?

   When I do this : SHELL "DIR" I
will see a directory and I will be in
the shell. But when I type EXIT I get
a "can't comtinue error"

	Can someone explain this?
