(Yes, I know this is actually a followup) I think it is inappropriate to put campaign messages on the net, especially in net.general. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. However, I don't want to see everyone submitting their opinion to net.general -- for ACM officers, US president, or dog catcher of Sunnyvale. It just so happens that the other candidate in the ACM election, Ray Miller, is the director of our school. He has had a long and distinguished career in computer science, and I know from experience that he is a superb administrator and a very fine person. Whatever Ms. Goldberg's qualifications may or may not be, I think it rather unfortunate that the article did not mention the other candidate. Let me encourage every ACM member to vote for the candidate of his or her choice. Both candidates appear to be well qualified for the position. But please, let us not discuss that on the net (or confine it to net.flame, please). -- Off the Wall of Gene Spafford The Clouds Project, School of ICS, Georgia Tech, Atlanta GA 30332 CSNet: Spaf @ GATech ARPA: Spaf.GATech @ CSNet-Relay uucp: ...!{akgua,allegra,rlgvax,sb1,unmvax,ulysses,ut-sally}!gatech!spaf "Give me a lever long enough, and a place to stand, and I'll break my lever."
