The 1.44MB diskettes are not very new. In the diskette bios listing
of the AT3 (dd. 851115 page 5-89), there is support for 1.44 MB
diskettes. I don't have an AT3 but I suppose that they use dual
speed (360/300 rpm) floppydrives. By using the 300 rpm speed
they put 18 sectors on a track instead of 15 on the standard AT
1.2MB diskette. (There is no support for 600kHz datarate).
