[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Will post ARC5.2 and PKARC2.0, but...

tes@whuts.UUCP (04/17/87)

<*>
I will be happy to post the latest of these two fine
programs in the official form (*.com). It will give
me practice in doing something other than taking
pot-shots.

However, I do not want to be the "n-th" poster, and
thus will wait until about April 22. If I see no
posting, I will post the "official self-de-arcing"
versions (*.com) versions in comp.sources (as mod.sources
has bit the dust, hopefully temporarily).

Before then, I need some advice:

1. I assume that I only have to run uuencode on the
*.com, prepend a brief explanation, and post using
    postnews.

2. I seem to recall a very old conversation about
needing to break posted source into 64k chunks.
Is this true? If so please provide me with the
appropriate shell command line to do it right.
    (A wizard I ain't)

Please e-mail, I doubt that anyone else needs this level
of hand-holding. I hope that I get it right the first
time.

thanks.

If you mean ``the NAME mod.sources has bit the dust'', it's permanent. If
you mean the newsgroup, it's split in half:

		comp.sources.unix (formerly mod.sources)
		comp.sources.misc (formerly net.sources)

Note that net.sources no longer exists, and its replacement is moderated.
However, the extent of the moderation is primarily to put non-sources into
comp.sourced.d, comp.sources.wanted, etc. Based on the namespace, I suspect
you'd do better posting to comp.sources.misc, as mod.sources doesn't seem to
be hospitable to MS-DOS sources anymore. :-)
