[comp.sys.ibm.pc] What does one look for to find the ECHO OFF default location?

allbery@ncoast.UUCP (Brandon S. Allbery) (04/27/87)

The version of DOS provided on the ITT XTRA (nominally 2.11) does not match
the various patches posted to the net for ECHO OFF default in batch files or
for AUTOEXEC.BAT. Can someone tell me what to search for to determine the
correct locations to patch? And what values to patch them to? Thanks in
advance, as they say.

I have managed to work out changing the environment size; the patch for 2.11
causes my DOS to stop reading AUTOEXEC.BAT, I went searching for MOV AH,4B
near a reference to the default environment block (which is text and can be
searched for easily) and got 0DF3H, which works fine. (If that's the address
the original patch uses, then I have to conclude that ITT DOS 2.11 is flaky
and go looking for a new DOS. Wouldn't surprise me.)
