[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Duplicates, sigh, was: ARC and PKARC posted in comp.source

tes@whuts.UUCP (STERKEL) (04/26/87)

<*>
Sigh,
What I was most afraid of, the duplicate posting of 75K+
binaries to the net has happened. In an attempt to prevent
this, I posted my intent to post *ARC* binaries in 10 days,
waited those 10 days to ensure no duplicate postings, then
posted. The posting was in comp.sources.misc, as advertised,
and a cross-reference put in comp.sys.ibm.pc. The next day
comp.sys.ibm.pc had duplicate binaries.
Sigh.

PLEASE no mail, my mailbox is bulging already. At least
I tried to avoid this.

As a sidebar mea culpa, I posted late at night (cheap time)
and had some typos in the *.COM names. Corrections have been
provided by at least three people, and I will not repeat them
to save some space. My recommendation is to use the comp.sys.
ibm.pc postings, and use mine in comp.sources.misc as back-up
as necessary (after correcting the typo's). I DID post the
MOST current. In any case, checkout the PKFIND10.COM and
DISSQASH.PAT uuencodes.

Again no mail please, unless it is a specific implementation
question.

thanks for your patience.

Don't worry about it. comp.sources.misc is either broken, or very slow.
No postings have appeared here yet in comp.sources.misc, but the
comp.sys.ibm.pc copies of PKARC arrived just fine.

Isn't comp.sources.misc supposed to be moderated? If so, just mail
to the moderator to cancel the PKARC posting, since it evidently hasn't
been posted YET.

Don't feel too bad -- I let them sit for a few days, then authorized them --
next day, lo and behold, what's in comp.sys.ibm.pc??? So you weren't the only
one fooled.
