Does anyone out there in Net-land have any pointers to speed-up kits for the original IBM AT systems. Specifically, I am interested in upgrading a half-dozen 6 Mhz machines to between 8-10 Mhz. We were considering simply switching crystals, but have heard that there is a routine in the AT's POST which will prevent bootup if the clock rate is monkeyed with. Supposedly there is a company which has a small board out to get around this problem -- it starts at 6 Mhz and gradually speeds up after a preset time period (so the POST can complete first). Only problem with this approach is that I am unable to find the reference! Any pointers to companies making such boards/kits would be appreciated, as would any information on doing these upgrades, problems you have had, etc. Please mail responses to me, or call at either number listed in the .sig. As usual, I will summarize responses to the net. -- Karl Denninger UUCP : ...ihnp4!ddsw1!karl Macro Computer Solutions Dial : +1 (312) 566-8912 (300-2400) "Quality systems at a fair price" Voice: +1 (312) 566-8910 (24 hrs)n

I'm currently running a true blue 6Mhz PC AT at 10Mhz via the use of Megahertz Corp. Trubo Switch. This allows you to select speed in 1/2Mhz increments from 6 -12 Mhz, as well as to toggle between 6Mhz & your preset speed. In addition it has a reset button built in. List price is around $130. And yes, it will work fine on those ATs whose ROM checks for clock speed. I highly recommend their products. Megahertz Corp. 1-800-645-3491 or 1-800-33TURBO (really 1-800-338-8726) Max S.
