I'd like to speed up a friend's IBM AT, but what I've heard is that I have
to have an old 6Mhz IBM AT before the ROM change that checked the clock.
I've heard that if I have either a 6Mhz AT with a modified ROM or an 8Mhz
AT, that I cannot speedup the machine simply by getting a faster clock.
So my questions to you are:
1) Is the above information correct?
2) Is there a way I can determine the ROM date and speed of my cpu and
memory? I've heard rumors about a program to do this, where is it?
3) Are there other nice ways to speed up AT's relatively inexpensively?
4) If I find out that it is already a 8Mhz AT what can I do?
Please email responses directly to me. I will summarize if I get requests
to do so. Thanking you all in advance!!!
