Recently we installed 2 IBM Local Area Networks in each classroom. With 15 PC's on each Network with IBM AT's as the servers. Enabling the students to use any software we have available and the uses of printers while signed onto the Network. QUESTION: Does anyone have running or know of a way that we can make a connection between the 2 networks at a site. Thus making the 30 PC's able to use the Networks together. If one network would be busy it could send processes or print jobs to the second network, etc.. We have had no help from IBM, but we are sure that there can be a solution. Either through additional software or hardware. Any suggestions or proposals would be greately appreciated. IBM's April 16, 1986 announcements told of an upgrade to the Token Ring Network/IBM PC Network Interconnect Program so as to provide for inter- connection between two PC Networks. According to IBM's scheme, you dedicate an AT to running this program; the AT has two network adapter cards in it, so as to be connected to both PC Networks. Unless IBM has enhanced the program, there are serious limitations: most notably, only 16 devices on any one network could be identified to devices on the other network. If this information is out of date, I'm sorry. Gary Chapman, NYU (chapman@nyu-acf1.arpa)
