[eat me!] Has anyone had any experiences with the Ecosoft C compiler? I haven't seen anything mentioned in any reviews about it, but DID notice the fact it's only $59.95. My major question is does it work on a non-IBM PC compatible machine? Clarkson University (until this year) gave out Zenith Z-100's to all incoming freshmen (now Z-248's *sigh*), which run MS-DOS, but do not support IBM BIOS calls. I noticed Ecosoft has a graphics package which seems to support the Z-100 as well; anyone use it? -dg- uucp: {pick a route}!polyof!helm!dave or normally (during school year): BITNET: bh0u@CLUTX.BITNET ARPANET: bh0u@clutx.clarkson.edu uucp: ...!trixie!gould!clutx!bh0u

It is very complete, Fully K&R, Sys5 compatible, (all libraby functions are identified as to their Sys5 compatibility), comes with a lot of extensions. This compiler didn't appear overnite. It was written by Jack Purdham. The sources (available option) are a model of C programming. All in all, an excellent bargain. I have 2 criticisms of this package -- the documentation is rather sparse. Don't buy this expecting to get a tutorial 'cause you'll be very disappointed. Also, it is very large. I wouldn't want to run this on a floppy-only system. On the other hand, the windowing package is awesome. It only consists of about 6 or 7 functions, but it will do everything you want in windows. It comes with a demo program that includes some fancy pull-down, pop-up, and exploding windows. The source is included, so you can make use of all of these techniques. I use this package at home with great success, but if I were doing serious (money-making) programmming there, I would probably use MSC v4.0, because of Codeview. If Ecosoft ever came out with its own HLL debugger, they would have it all. =#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=#=# Dick Gardner -- Eastman Kodak Co.
