Well, I just got back from a whole day at IBM's main office in San Francisco, and what a day it was!!! They are teaching (haveing) this course on OS/2, and EVERYTHIGN that it can do, how it's structured, EVERYTHING!!! All I have to say, is,... WOW!! It does just about everything... It in-corporates foreign languages, allows you to run a 5 meg program even though you only have 2 meg of ram, *multi-tasking*, priorities, Everything.. It even has some other nice 'goodies' like a PC Compatible shell (while other processes are still runinng in backround!), and coded selection of priority of execution (3 classes, each 32 levels deep! not bad, eh?).. But, now for the bad part about OS/2.. Yes, there is a bad part... It is _NOT_ EGA compatible. If you run a graphics program in OS/2, and you have an EGA card, it displays in CGA mode (i.e. CGA Graphics from an EGA board). Also, when version 1.1 is released, the IBM 5151 Monochrome monitor will NOT be supported because they will be going to windowing (isn't everyone? ..sigh..). Anyway, I got on for a few pages on it, but I think I have summed it up well enough for you to get an idea of what it is like... In one word, I would have to say that overall, it is AWESOME! Oh, one more thing... It _WILL_ and _DOES_ support VGA graphics... Anyone have anything else to add? Does anyone know anything I don't? I will post more tomorrow when the class is overwith.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luis Chanu "Live every day as if it were your last, UUCP: ihnp4!sun!aeras!grinch!luis because one day you will be right."
