[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Memory Error Summary

dbercel@toto.UUCP (05/26/87)

I got a lot of email about the memory error that occurred on my
friend's PC. I received email suggesting that bank 0, 1, 2, 3, 4,
and bank 0 (expansion) were the banks to look at. However, based
on various pieces of the IBM Hardware Manual, and the general
feeling of the majority of responders, the bad chip is most
likely Bank 0, chip D7.

Since bank 0 is the soldered bank, my friend had to take her
PC in for the repair work. It's still there but should be
back in a few days. When it is repaired I'll post the bank
and chip location that was *actually* at fault.

Thanks for all the great input. Everyone's email was very
helpful in isolating the bank and chip.
