allan, The update of DOS to 3.3 on IBM hard drives(or compatables) is not a problem. It is fully explained on 3-4 of the DOS 3.3 manuel. If you do not have it yet, all it entailsis : sys c: -puts system to c: replace a:\*.* c:\ /s /r -replaces old DOS{files with new version replace a:\*.* c<path> /a -add new DOS 3.3 files The update, however ddepends on the compatability of the hard drive. I havean 80Meg Tallgrass drive that does not yet havesupport for DOS 3.3. Make sure your drive does, otherwise you may lose all your files. It probbly be a goosd idea to back it up before trying an update. Sean Connelly

I've just *attempted* to get a 70 megabyte hard disk going in a Deskpro with PC DOS 3.3. It partitions the thing just fine (33.5 megs in logical drives C: and D: and roughly 5 more in E:) but will *not* boot. If you're thinking of shelling out for 3.3 for that reason alone... DON'T! I was told to try VFEATURE by Golden Bow Systems.

I also went through the same problem with an AT clone and a Seagate ST251, it boots fine all versions of DOS from the floppy, but once I FDISKed it with 3.30, no more boot from the hard disk. At least I kept my 3.2... -- MANNERS: Just say no _t_h_a_n_k _y_o_u! Dragon Technology!! {hplabs, ames, sun, etc.}!oliveb!olivej!dragon
