As pointed out in recent articles, there has been a rash of postings to net.general that do not belong. This article is not directed at the offenders, but at those who choose to rebuke the offenders. For some reason, there seems to be a non-trivial quantity of self-righteous jerks who see the need to rebuke naive offenders with obnoxious, sarcastic letters reminding them of the wide readership of this group, the cost of long- distance telephone calls and the utter triviality of their topic. This really isn't necessary. A gentle reminder would do the job. I realize that some people gain enormous satisfaction from the belittling process, but I had hoped that most of the net citizens were more mature. Sure, I went through such a phase with my younger siblings. But, by and large, I outgrew it with the onset of puberty. ---------- Nathan Meyers hp-pcd!nathanm
