Recently, a discussion has been taking place on the MKS Toolkit and problems people are having with it. From what I followed, these problems centered around 'sh' being broken in version 2.1. I am interested in this discussion because I am looking for a package that provides many of the functions available in sh, particularly aliasing, history, and the ability to execute the command line 'sh filename'. I would like to know other users experience with the MKS Toolkit in this regard and would also like to hear from anyone who has used version 2.2 which supposedly was released June 15, 1987. I would also like to hear from anyone who is familiar with the Avocet AVKIT(tm) which, from the short ad I have, claims to contain over 90 utility programs including awk, sed, grep, and the vi editor as well as an 'excellent implementation of the Korn shell.' The price is given as $139. At present I do not have any more information on this product and I have not seen it reviewed in any articles so all information will be appreciated. Depending on what turns up, I will post a summary of my findings. Thanks. Dave Beyerl ihlpl!db21
