[comp.sys.ibm.pc] 220 V, 50 Hz

I am considering taking an IBM PC/XT with IBM monitor, Apple
Imagewriter, and Hayes Smartmodem 1200 to Israel. As far as
the PC is concerned, I know that IBM makes a 220V power supply.
Questions:

1) Can the 110V supply be run at 50 Hz (i.e., on transformer output)?
2) Can the 110V power supply be converted (by moving a jumper, etc.))
to 220V?

The monitor will apparently tolerate 50 Hz (according to the label on the back)
so I suppose a small transformer will be all right.

3) Anybody know anything about modems in this regard?

 Benjamin,

My group was shipping AT's to Europe a couple of months ago and we wanted
to pre-test the systems for 220V, the base units were fine they convert to
220V very easily, but the monitors don't convert at all. None of the sales
outlets know anything about monitors for 220V operation and when we contacted
the Big Blue none of there engineers could tell us if the monitors were able to
be converted or if they sold a separate monitor for 220Vs.
Solution was we shipped the base units and bought monitors in Europe.
I don't know about the modem though.
