I have read in Byte magazine about Apple offering substantial discounts to university faculty and students for the MacIntosh ($900 for faculty and $1200 for students at Dartmouth). I am an undergrad at the University of Waterloo, Canada and I would greatly appreciate any information any one can give in regards to these discounts. The MacIntosh has a $3595 list price in Canada and if it was discounted to say under $2000 for students here, I'm sure that many students like myself would get one at the first possible opportunity.

This is a followup to an article asking for a MacIntosh at the discount rate offered to several universities. What you are asking is illegal, the contract specifies that you may not sell them after you purchased them and that you may only buy one. There is a lot more to it than that, but that's the gist of it. If you want a cheap Mac, change universites. Sorry about this being in net.general, I know it is not supposed to be here but that's where the first one went and it is *almost* of interest to all. Maybe. Doubtful. Sorry... -- David C.
