I am having problems running Procomm on a PCjr that has been upgraded to a PC configuration. The problem is that I can not seem to download any type of file using the XMODEM protocol in Procomm. Uploading files has no problems. Has anyone else experienced such behavior and solved the problem? The Procomm doc tells of two utilities to run on the PCjr (one before invoking Procomm, one after) called COMSWAP and COMREST, that are obtainable off their BBS, but I can neither download files or get thru to their BBS. Will these utils solve the problem? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. Bob Bencivenga ihnp4!erc3ba!rb (609) 639-2494

I have a PCjr with the Racor 2nd drive and 640k mem. I can run Procomm without a single problem. The question is first, "Are you using the PCjr internal modem?", if you are, then you will not need to use the COMSWAP and COMREST utils. FLAME ON I used to have the internal modem, was it ever a dog, not only was it not Hayes compat. but in order pass a ^N, it had to be sent twice. You say so what, there are comm programs that can handle that today, there weren't three years ago! IBM in their infinite wisdom did not make the addressing to the COM?: addresses compatable with the PC's. I'm sorry, it IS compatable WHEN you have the internal modem installed, another great IBM marketing ploy! FLAME OFF Here is where COMSWAP comes to play. COMSWAP simulates the presence of the $200 internal 300baud modem. I wish I know who wrote this wondeful util. Maybe someone could post the file in binary form for you, or I can do it if someone will describe what has to be done. (I'm pretty new to the net) Are there any other closet PCjr owners in NetLand ? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: My opinions are my own, and do not in any way reflect the position of my employer.
