I am not an authority, but I have a couple of comments regarding your uuencode/decode questions. First, the purpose of uuencode, as I understand it, is simply to translate a file into simple ASCII codes from 32 (space) to 127 (tilde) so that the file can be transferred easily between many kinds of systems that can handle ASCII transfers. (Thus, you would not have to transfer from VAX to PC via KERMIT using BINARY mode, and you could easily MAIL a BINARY file in this ASCII form.) Secondly, while there could be some variations of uuencode/decode, I would be greatly surprized. I have received (and sent) many encoded files from (and to) a great variety of different machines, and have never encountered any compatabilty problems. I had understood that there is only one encoding/decoding scheme. Otherwise great confusion. In summary, why ARE you having a problem?
