I am getting ready to release my latest version of the DISKREAD program. If you don't know what DISKREAD is, it is like Norton's utilities. But, it doesn't have all the goodies. It is for hard drives only and right now, it doesn't allow you to change bytes of individual sectors. What it does allow you to do is copy sectors from one drive to another, or to the same drive. It even allows for a complete hard drive to hard drive copy. If the two drives are the same, you are allowed to do a complete disk to disk backup. The individual sector copy portion is great for fixing a bad FAT. I had a CRC error develope in FAT 1 and copied FAT 2 to FAT 1. The copying of the FAT fixed the CRC error. You can look at the partition table (PC-DOS 3.2, 3.3 in future) and to be able to look at individual sectors, in Norton format. I admit that the program doesn't do everything, but it has helped with some hard disk problems. Future releases will allow more to happen. -- harvard-\ ihnp4--\ Mr. Video seismo!uwvax.......!nicmad!brown rutgers-/ decvax--/ terminus-/
