[comp.sys.ibm.pc] MSDOS simulation/task for UNIX???

arwall@athena.mit.edu (Anders R Wallgren) (07/15/87)

Does anybody know about software simulating MSDOS that will run on a
UNIX machine?? I am interested in running an MSDOS session in a
window, allowing me to access all the wonderful stuff (like Turbo
Pascal) that is available for PC's.

I would supply more information regarding what system I use, etc, but
the only thing I know for sure is that it should run on either a
Vaxstation II/RC or an IBM RT running some version of Unix/Ultrix.

Please reply by mail.

Thank you!

I don't think you're going to find what you want. Consider that things like
Turbo do all sorts of evil system-dependent things. You can buy a board from
ibm for about $1000 that'll run dos on your rt. For that money you're better
off buying a pc

Sun makes a PC/AT clone-on-a-card. It maps the screen into a window,
and you can get the standard 1.2M floppy, or use network stuff, if my
memory is correct. If what you REALLY wany to do is use some PC things
in a UN*X environment, this maybe a technique. I think it's about
$2500 q/1.
