My wife will be teaching an intro class in programming this fall and is trying to figure out how she'll grade programs that students hand in. The class will be taught using Turbo Pascal on PC's and she'll probably have students hand in floppies with .COM files containing their programs (as well as the source). She'd like to be able to run the programs and get a script of the program's input and output in a file (similar to the Unix(tm) script command). She'd also like it if students could use this method for those programs where they only hand in printed transcripts of an invocation of their programs. For programs just giving output, redirection of standard out is easy. (Does this work in Turbo?) For interactive programs, does anybody have any good ideas? How would you handle this sort of situation? Any help would be appreciated.
