[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Kermit Problems -- Solution, for my case.

schung@cory.Berkeley.EDU (07/31/87)

Hello,

A long, long time ago I asked for help in transferring files using Kermit.

My problem was, after receiving like one or three packages, Kermit went into
an endless retries.

People suggest changing parity, handshake, stop bit, packet-length, etc.
Well, changing packet-length worked for awhile, until I tried to download
files above 100K in size. Then Kermit will hang, not only that, for every
packet receive, Kermit had to do two retries.

A week ago I found out the culprit. It is the cute, little, innocent looking
clock that I have ticking away at the upper right hand side of my screen.
It interrupts kermit every second(?), causing kermit to lost its packets.

Another TSR program that give me some trouble is BACKSCROOL, it causes the
cursor to be placed at wrong position. No other TSR program I have caused
any problem once I removed this two.

For those who asked, you can get Kermit from anonymous ftp to
cu20b.columbia.edu under WS2:<KERMIT>. Get the file MSSAAAHLP or something
like that which will tell you all the files you need.

Thank you for all who responded.
