   You might try using Norton's again, find that file in the directory
table, and change the name of it manually to something that is not a
logical device name, like LPT1 is. Then if you are successful at that,
you should be able to delete the file normally from DOS. If you didn't
already know this, LPT1 is reserved by DOS for the printer port, so
any time you use that for a filename it wants to use your printer as a
logical file. Obviously you can't delete a printer. Since this is
reserved, DOS won't even try to do anything to the disk using LPT1.
  To manually change the name, first select the directory in which the
file resides, then choose "Dir area" as your choice for the explore
menu in Norton's. Then just find LPT1 in the directory, and change
a letter or two in the name LPT1.
