Well, about five people pegged Jerry Garcia as the ringer in "Teach Your Children". No one, however, had the whole story behind the writer of the Airplane's "Somebody to Love". The author was Darby Slick, the brother of Jerry Slick (Grace's husband). They were all in the SF band "The Great Society". Darby played lead guitar, Jerry the drums. Airplane fans should go out of their way to pick up the album "Conspicuous Only in its Absence", which has live recordings of the group playing in the Matrix. Songs of note are "White Rabbit", "Somebody to Love", and "Father Bruce". -- Jeff Myers ARPA: myers@wisc-rsch.arpa uucp: ..{seismo, ihnp4}!wisc-rsch!myers
