Keywords:vt100 tektronics 4014 emulators
I apologize if this question has recently come up in this forum, but I
haven't subscribed before and expect to unsubscribe soon. I would
prefer e-mail responses, and most of the net probably would too. If
there is any interest in my doing so, I will post a summary of the
responses to this group before I abandon it.
We need recomendations for a ibm-pc terminal emulator which can either
be public domain, shareware, or a commercial product and which
(1) Does a superior job of emulating a vt100 terminal. Working with vi
on a Unix box is not adequate. Test results from a vt100 emulation
testing suite would be more informative, preferably resulting in a
quite short list of difficiencies. At less that the least,
Application Keypad/Numeric Keypad and Application Cursor/Normal
Cursor escape sequences must work correctly. Among the features we
don't need are 132 column mode (80 are adequate). If you don't have
access to such a suite, include information about what systems and
applications you have used this emulator with, and what, if any,
defects it displays.
(2) Emulates a Tektronix 4014 terminal. The features we don't require
include any that involve the crosshairs, such as digitization,
Z-axis capabilities, and 'hardware' characters of different sizes.
All the rest are useful. Re-rasterization of the plotting commands
for output on a printer, to take advantage of its higher resolution
than the screen's, is desirable.
(3) Can easily be switched between these two modes, or runs both
simultaneously (I think there are very few overlaps, if any, in the
escape sequences).
Thanks!
